I do notice that the reddish tones in 5.0 mellow out a bit after a few hours of wear and let through more of my natural skin tone, so maybe I just have to be a little more patient. It may have something to do with the shade I’ve been using… 5.0 isn’t a perfect match for me it’s a little redder than my usual NC 42, but it was the closest shade I could find in the range to my skin. With Matchmaker, I feel like I have to pay closer attention to my contouring with bronzer, lest my skin look totally flat. I think my skin looks more natural when I wear Chanel Mat Lumiere, my current favorite foundation. Unfortunately, I think it’s almost too good at washing out the natural variations in my skin tone and texture that would keep it looking real. I almost don’t even care, though, because of how much I love the lightweight feel and how long it keeps the shine on my forehead at bay (for hours). Shade 5.0 definitely evens out my skin tone and covers everything I want it to cover, from the post-acne discoloring along my jawline (dang hormones have run amok!) to the light spots on my cheeks, but it doesn’t look completely natural to me. I bought my own foundation for this review.Well, that depends. NOTE: Media samples were provided by a representative of the company, but not the one pictured above. The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars You will not be disappointed, and I can assure you that you would be happier with the results if you use the foundation in tandem with the concealer. I am so glad this didn't break me out, because I really like the formula.Īll in all, if you want long-wearing, natural-looking, semi-matte foundation, go grab this one. I have broken out using MAC foundation in a matter of hours ( Hyper-real, hello! Good thing it has been discontinued). I wore it for 4 days straight and it didn't break me out. I doubt that I would use it every day because no other foundation gives me good skin every day like mineral makeup, but this would be one of my go-to foundations for weekends and special occasions. Third, and probably the deciding factor for me: it didn't break me out. I only needed to blot with oil-blotting sheets to keep the makeup fresh. I wore it for 12 hours and it stayed intact. Second, it is very long-wearing (hence the name). It gives a natural, light coverage, but in tandem with the Pro Longwear Concealer, it effectively gives blemished skin the illusion of natural flawless skin without looking cakey. Make sure you buff in quick motions as it tends to dry fast. There are three major reasons why I love this foundation: First, it has a very smooth, even finish, of course with the help of the Kabuki on A Stick. This shows the foundation's staying power. Wearing Pro Longwear SPF10 after a long day (can you tell by the messed up hair? lol). I used Pro Longwear SPF10 foundation in NC30 and MAC Pro Longwear SPF10 Concealer in mix of NW15 and NC42 (I accidentally mixed in more of the lighter shade, hence the whitish cast in the pics). Applying the foundation in quick buffing motions ensures a flawless, non-splotchy finish. I like how it applies liquid foundation quickly but evenly. It has been compared to Bare Escentuals' Handy Buki brush and even to MAC 109, but the Kabuki on a Stick is more dense than the 109. I use my favorite liquid foundation brush, Coastal Scents' Kabuki on a Stick: I also make sure I moisturized my skin well. The concealer acts as your insurance because it spot-conceals blemishes while making the rest of the face look entirely natural.įirst of all, it is important to have a good primer underneath. Even though the coverage of the foundation is light to medium enough to look natural and not cakey, it hardly conceals any blemishes. For those like me who have some acne scars and dark undereye circles to conceal, using the Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation in tandem with the Pro Longwear Concealer is a MUST. The coverage of this foundation is light to medium buildable coverage, but if it weren't for Pro Longwear Concealer, I would not have used this foundation at all. I love the semi-matte finish because I don't like too matte foundations and dewy ones give me the greaseball look. MY TAKE: I think this is the best MAC foundation I have tried, bar none. That said, I really crossed my fingers hoping that Pro Longwear wouldn't break me out.Ī look using Pro Longwear SPF10 and the rest of the review after the jump I think maybe it's because some of the ingredients are not agreeing with my sensitive skin. MAC's foundations have a history of wreaking havoc on my skin. I was able to try Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation even though I am really wary of MAC foundations.
